Frequently Asked Questions

What if I start coaching and decide to quit? Is there a contract or program I’m tied into?

No. There is no contract, or extended program you are required to complete once you start. There is no minimum number of sessions.

Is there a set number of sessions based on what area I want to focus on or what goals I have?

No. Because these are custom one-on-one sessions they are based on your goals and adjusted for your speed. We typically want to cover 1 concept per session and review anything from the last session, but if you want to spend more time on any one item we can do that.

Can you tell me in advance how many sessions it will take for me to achieve my goals?

Because it’s totally custom you will determine the speed and as you progress you may want to make changes to that timeline so nothing is set in stone. When we discuss your goals we will talk about realistic timelines to frame your expectations. Its best to think of coaching as a process and not a destination.

How often will we meet for sessions?

Typically sessions are 1 time per week, but we can schedule at your speed. Every other week or even 1 time a month can work. I don’t recommend spacing sessions farther than 1 month apart since it becomes hard to recall the last session and allows too much time to fall out of the new mindset we are working to create. This often leads to more sessions due to an excessive amount of review. The goal is for things to build and snowball into momentum which doesn’t happen with too much time between sessions. Weekly is ideal.

How are sessions held?

Sessions are held via video call. I think it’s important to be able to use the nonverbal cues that make up so much of communication. In a pinch we could do a phone call but video call is the standard.

Am I required to purchase any materials?

No. I do ask that you take notes during sessions and occasionally I may email you handouts or links to activities that you can download or complete online. It’s helpful to have a notebook and pen for notes since you will be using the video on your computer, phone or tablet.

How do I schedule or reschedule sessions?

After your discovery call if we are a good fit, you will receive a link to book an appointment. A deposit is required to book, which will be applied to your session fee. You can reschedule your own appointments from this link or your confirmation email.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require a minimum of 24 hr notice to cancel or you will be charged a cancellation fee in the amount of your deposit. If you No-Show an appointment you will be charged the full price of the session.

Do you offer packages or discounts?

I do offer packages which can be purchased up front for a reduced price per session. Packages are non-refundable and must be used within the time frame listed in the package.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. I do offer gift cards. Gift cards are virtual and must be used within 1 year of purchase. I do ask that the recipient first have a discovery call with me to make sure its a good fit. Anyone can purchase gift cards for existing clients and those approved through a discovery call. Current clients may purchase gift cards through their account. Non-clients please contact me for details.

Can I gift sessions from a package I purchased for myself?

Yes. You may gift sessions purchased in a package as long as the recipient is already a client or has already been approved through a discovery call. Please let me know when you would like to gift a session and I will make the adjustments to the accounts so that the recipient may schedule their own appointment from their account.

Can I share a session or bring a guest?

I do not offer joint sessions so please do not bring guests to your virtual sessions. If you have friends who are interested you are welcome to share details of your session with them and they can call me for a discovery session to answer their questions. I understand the challenges of being a parent, please do your best to be in a quiet place you can focus uninterrupted for your session. Interruptions to the session will simply be lost time, I cannot extend your sessions to make up for it.

Do you offer referral credits?

Yes. If you refer a new client you will each receive a $50 account credit after you have each have completed 3 sessions with me. This applies only to new clients and new purchased sessions or gift card sessions purchased for them. Does not apply to package sessions gifted from your account to theirs.

I am uncomfortable discussing my personal life and details with someone, can this be avoided?

No. The nature of one-on-one coaching is personal. In order for us to create the life you want you will have to be open to sharing and discuss your life in detail. Your details are always private and I will not share them publicly. I won’t ask you to discuss details of traumatic events, although I may ask you to focus on the feelings around those events. Business and Corporate coaching focuses may require less personal details about certain parts of your life but in order to help you construct a plan that works for you I need to have an idea of who you are and your motivations and priorities. I’m happy to explain why I am asking the questions I ask.

What’s the difference between Personal Development Coaching and Therapy?

These two things are very different in many ways. Coaching is more strategically focused, and centered on making plans and goals for the future or to accomplish a specific end result. Therapy is often about diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. Therapy is typically more focused on exploring trauma and feelings in order to heal deep emotional wounds. We will use your feelings as a guide for direction but not explore them in much depth. Our focus will not be on diving into or managing feelings, but rather channeling them into fuel for getting to where you want to be in life. I am NOT a therapist and in no way attempt to diagnose, treat or cure mental health conditions.

I am seeing a therapist, can I still do life coaching?

Absolutely. Coaching is separate from therapy and can be a great addition to the healing therapy can provide.

Why do you use meditation, mindfulness and yogic teachings in your coaching?

Mindfulness is a very powerful tool, often dismissed as “woo woo”, in reality mindfulness has been scientifically proven to physically change your brain and its neural pathways which control everything you think and do. Mindfulness practices are a way to clear out all the clutter weighing us down so the full power of our mind can focus on our goals and intentions. Meditation is the best way I have learned to create mindfulness. Yoga is a practice focused on holistic principles, reminding us that everything is connected in our bodies, lives and the world at large. This is very applicable to my approach to coaching, so it makes a great tool. Yoga also uses many principles of mindfulness and involves bringing your mind, body and energy into harmony which allows you to function at your highest level.

I don’t like meditation, do I have to do it?

You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. If you choose to skip activities, exercises or practices that’s your choice, keep in mind that you are the one who loses the benefits from those activities. Some exercises are part of a series and build on the previous one so skipping one will disrupt the whole series. I invite you to be open to things that are new, uncomfortable or strange for you and simply experience them to see what comes of it. Growth isn’t comfortable and that’s why you are seeking coaching in the first place, to grow. The truth is people are very bad at determining what will help them or impact them.

NOTE: If you are unwilling to do any activities or so many that we are not able to make progress to your goals I will ask you to cancel future sessions so you may find another coach who fits your style better.
